checking status with NVC

My I140 got approved on 12/12/02. The case hasnt been received in NVC yet (already 22 days). I was planning on checking the automated message every couple of days to find out about it as the operators are annoyed if you call them before 60 days. But my HR person told me not to check even automated message often; if you do call often, they may deny you access to check the status for the case. I am not sure if its true or if its legally possible. He said it happened to one of the persons he knew. i am not sure if he is making it up. Any ideas?

The delay of 22 days is a cause for concern. I would only term calling every day, as too many enquiries. You should be OK if you call the NVC every week, or twice a week. After all, the facility is set up to let people have the information.

My personal experience is, the ladies answering the phone at NVC are very nice and polite. You can actually raise your concern about calling so many times and ill effects of doing so !

My 140 was also approved on 12/12/02. I checked with the NVC automated system. My case is also not yet there just as yours. It looks like this is the usual time recently with holidays etc.

I am planning to do my CP at Chennai.. what about you ?

Hi cannon,

My I-140 got approved on 12/04, but my case didn't get created till 12/30. I know of some other cases where it almost took 30 days too.

NVC Fee Request Sent

Hello Cannon:

Though my post yesterday said NVC does not have my case, I talked to them today and was told they sent a fee request to my lawyer on December 30th. So they must have received it just before or after X mas.

NVC representative was very nice and gave me all the details including the case number and explained the whole process though I did not ask for it!
