Is Charlotte office still accepting walk-in for PP stamping? Has anyone done stamping there recently without appointment?

Please post your experiences.

From USCIS site regarding Charlotte office

Walk-ins:
Effective August 19, 2004, to speak with an Immigration Information Officer, you must make an appointment via the Internet at INFOPASS. You must bring the printout of your INFOPASS appointment and a photo ID with you. A number of persons can be served on a walk-in basis. Such visits should be limited to emergencies. Please note that you may have to wait several hours until you see an Immigration Officer. Our lobby is located at 6130 Tyvola Centre Drive, Charlotte, NC.

So, you need an appointment with Infopass for every case you have. That's the official statement. Depending on the office, they may accept or not more than one case per appointment.

Charlotte Information

Guys, Today morning I went to Charlotte for passport stamping.
I reached around 6.45 and there were already about 8 to 10 people waiting in queue. At 7 pm a security person came out and told EVERYONE who do not have infopass appointment to leave and return after making an appointment.
There were people who mentioned they have emergency and the secrurity response was only a death in the family with proof such as death certificate will is considered emergency.
There is a notice displaying on the door that Effective October 1 2004 entrance to this building is by Appointment Only .
Hope this helps!

Thank you Homer-Simpson

I was planning to go day after tomorrow ... You saved my day. I have scheduled InfoPass appointment on Oct 14 and will let everyone know how it went.

For PP stamping I have been asked to go to
6 Woodlawn Green, Charlotte, NC 28217 on Tues, Wed, & thurs between 9-12. It doesn't mention of any infopass requirement.
Also this is not the same address as the Tyvola mentioned on the web site.

Charlotte, Woodlawn Green Address

I do have 6 Woodlawn Green Adrress ... The approval letter asks us to go between 9 and 12 to this address for stamping .... Does INS have a second office in charlotte where info pass is not required. Any info is appreciated.

Also, Homer-Simpson, does your approval letter says Tyvola Streen or Woodlawn Green, Please clarify Thanks in advance

Approval Notice Address is Wrong-- It is Tyvola Center

Guys,
The Approval notice still has old information related to the address and the ADIT photos etc. The ONLY things done at the old address are biometric fingerprinting. If you have an approval notice to get your passport stamped following I-485 approval, you need to go to Tyvola Center AFTER making an appointment on InfoPass.
Hope this helps.

1) You need to take appointment using INFOPASS ( search on the net ). Tyvola Center Drive office
2) Make sure you take passport size ( 2 numbers ) : FRONT facing. They changed the specifications recently. Kinko's has the latest specification. Approval notice doesnt
3) Do not go before 15mts of your appointment time.
4) Take ALL APs and EADs

The whole process of stampping takes 10-15 mts if you follow above.
I am impressed by their last processing step...wish they were that efficient for the entire GC process.

I-485 RD : June'02
FP : Twice
RFE : Once
AP : Thrice
EAD : Thrice

HOMER-SIMPSON,

Congrats on your PP stamp. I will be coming to Charlotte sometime
this month. Do you know how many minutes/hours
before the appointment time you need to show up at the field
office? That's the purpose of the InfoPass, right, so you don't
have to be in line early, just like before.

Appreciate your response. Thanks.

I think they were mentioning 15 minutes, there were some people who also came 30 miuntes before and had to wait. Good luck. If you have your photos (passport style not ADIT style), EADs and APs, PP, I-94 etc it will take you about 5 to 10 minutes to get the stamping. There was a person who did not have photos. The immigration offiver guided him where to go near by (outside the building) and he returne din half an hour with the photos and got stamping.
