Chargeability Mistake 2022 within same region

My husband made a mistake in his DV 2022 entry by writing CHILE (SA Region) as his country of chargeability while he was supposed to write VENEZUELA (which he was born - SA Region).

Do you think selecting CHILE as his country of chargeability instead of Venezuela should be a motive of disqualification?

On the other hand, I am Venezuelan, as his wife can we still remain qualify ?

Should we continue the process? What would you recommend us?

Thank you so much in advance!

There used to bd a clause in the manual specifically allowing for this error to be overcome if the region is the same. Although this clause has been removed, we had a few recent (past couple of months) reports where mistaken countries in the same region were approved (all at different embassies). No one can guarantee this will happen however given that it is no longer explicitly mentioned in the manual. You have the added “out” of him being cross chargeable, assuming you are also individually eligible (education etc) for the visa. So while there are no guarantees of success if I personally were in your shoes I would proceed with it.
One question, are you currently residing in Chile, Venezuela, or somewhere else?

Thank you for your answer SusieQQQ!
We both were born in Venezuela, my husband is also chilean because of his dad. And we have been living in Chile for 9 years now!

Additionally, we are both eligible in terms of education etc.
