Changing the Address of the Green Card at POE/Online

Dears,

The address I listed on my DS-260 belonged to a friend who recently moved to a different place. I'll be flying to the US within two months and know I can change the address at the POE. Did anyone experience problems with changing the address at that point?

Moreover, while paying for the green cards, the website advised me to make a USCIS account. Has anyone had experience with changing the address on USCIS before coming to the US? Does it actually change the address or can you only do it at the POE?

We entered the US a few days back and told the officer at the PoE about the need to change the address because we don't have access to the old one. However, he said that the system didn't give him an option and that we must do that with USCIS. After a bit of trouble, we got them on the phone and they informed us to change the address online.

We changed the address for each family member and included the receipt number from our green card payment. The status changed later that day to "Address changed", so we're hoping that is enough for the green cards.

My question now concerns the SSN, as I'm unsure which address they will choose. Do they get updated by USCIS for the address change or do we have to notify them separately? If the latter is correct, can you mention how we may do that?

Note: We changed the address online with USCIS the following day of our admission to the US.
