Changing jobs in 6th year

My I-140 has been cleared and my H1B visa expires on Dec 2011 after 6 years of stay here. I know I can now extend my visa for 3 years. However, I want to change my job. Assuming I find a new job in the next 3 months and reapply for my GC immediately, can I apply for my H1B extension even though my new labor is not cleared. The problem being that I can only extend my visa if my labor has been filed 12 months before the H1B expiry date. So if I change my job then I will have to apply for an extension but with my new job the labor would just now have been filed, so I won't be eligible for an extension. How do I work through this situation please help?
