Changing Jobs from Civil Engineer to Software Engineer

Greetings,

My friend is a H1 B visa holder working as a Civil Engineer. She is good in programming and was wondering if she can change job to software engineering as a software engineer without any issues. She is on final year of H1-B visa. Has 11 months left on her H1-B (6 year).
Any pointers or help in this regard would be great.

Does she have qualifications and experience in software engineering?

If so, can she find an employer willing to hire her (knowing that she has only 1 year left on her H1B)

If answers to both question are YES, then there should be no problem.
 
Hi,

Thanks for the response. She does not have experience on Software engineering. However, she has taken some software courses and has knowledge of it. Not sure, if USCIS will agree to her H1-B, provided she finds a job/sponsor.
