Changing jobs from a consulting to a non-consulting employer

Even though I have been a silent visitor to this board (due to my lack of knowledge of GC process), I have closely followed the majority of discussions… I have a question you may be able to answer. I have been with a large consulting company for the last 5 years and they are sponsoring my GC. My I-485 RD is Jan 3, 2002. I have an offer from an established financial company in the same city. My original LC job title is “Consultant” the new job title is “Sr Bus Sys Analyst”. Responsibilities are generally similar and both jobs are in IT. New salary is higher than LC salary. As I am very close to final approval I am afraid I could mess things up by switching jobs. My concern is that the new job is non-consulting and also that I will most probably get an RFE. My attorney tells me close to 90% of the cases with RD in Dec 01/Jan 02 get RFEs and almost all the cases with job switch end up as interviews at local office.

Do you guys see this switch as taking a big risk?

The new employer is not very experienced with GC and they may agree to “customize” the new job description to match more closely the LC one. So if I ask the new employer to write a job description similar to the original one (and they agree), could I still have problems?

Thanks in advance and I will post back here for the benefit of the board if I learn anything new from the attorneys.

See the LC application. there will be a job description (like candidate will be engaged in 1, 2, 3... etc.) if you can match those responsibilities with the new job's responsibilities. Then you are golden...
