Changing Job

I am planning to change jobs after 400+ days of filing the I-485. Do I need to file anything with the INS to do this, if so what do I need for it in terms of paystubs, employment letter, etc.

If someone has done this before please let me know if I should watch out for any pitfalls.

Thanks

My receipt date is 11 Nov 2001, and I just changed my job a couple of weeks ago. According to the lawyer, there should be no pitfalls as such.

Did you have to inform the INS about the job change? If so, what were the documents? Thanks.

If you change job you dont necessarily have to inform INS.
You can wait till you get an RFE and then at time inform about it.
If you are lucky you may not got any RFE (so why inform now?).

If you decide to inform you just need to send them a simple letter (on your new employers letterhead) stating you start date, fulltime position, job title and responsibilities. There is no specific form to inform INS about this. Your lawyer can give you format of this letter.

If it makes you feel more comfortable, I have changed job after 180 days and not informed INS yet. My lawyer said you have to inform but I didn't. Different lawyers have different opinion about it but bottom line is you don't HAVE to inform.

Goodluck with you rnew job...

Job title and Salary

Hi,

After changing to a new job, after completing 180 days pending I-485, is it enough if the job responsiblities are the same?

If the title and salary are different, will it be a problem.?

Please advice.

Thanks,

Changed job after 180 days and the new job profile was same and salary was also almost same. But informed INS about the job change through lawyer. Make sure the job description matches with the one you actually filed while starting the GC process. If the title also could be similar then it is good.

Thanks
