Changing category of jobs after GC approval

Hello, I got my green card in E17 category which is for outstanding researcher category (EB1). As the research grant money is reduced, I got this position for next 3-6 months. Can I change the jobs from E17 category to different category which do not come under EB1 green card application process? How does this affect the N-400 application process for citizenship later on. Is it a good idea to get a letter from my employer stating the reason for leaving the job ( reduced grant money) which I can use during N-400 application or it does not matter? Thanks in advance for your replies.

There is no impact to you as this is not your choice. Even if you chose to change out of a job that is not an EB1 category, you are fine. You are free to work where and when you please.

---------------------------if you can get the letter then keep it with you and show only if asked at US citizenship interview.
or it does not matter?
----------------99.9% they will not ask

You are free to do whatever you want. It won't affect anything with your applying for US citizenship because you are a US permanent resident officially. Applying for US citizenship has nothing to do with your current job or future job. Good luck! :)

Contradictory replies

Thanks for your reply, however, there are contradictory replies for this on other threads if you refer the 'similar threads' at the end of this page.

If I got my GC through EB1 and now if I change my job to EB2 or EB3 category, then the citizenship application or my green card is safe or it will get denied? Still am not sure. Can someone please explain. Ideally, it should get denied as I am working in different field as compare to what I intended or promised before, however, am not clear about the rules. Thanks in advance for your replies and explanation.

If you failed to ever work in an EB1-level job post-GC, that would put some doubt on the legitimacy of the EB1 application, which they may dig into when you apply for citizenship. But from your description it seems you have 3-6 more months in such a position, plus you've presumably already worked a number of months post-GC in the same position, so you will be OK.

Thanks

Thanks to all for your replies. They were very helpful. Please share your personal experience or if you know someone in the same situation and about their experiences then that would be helpful too.
