Hi Gurus,

My daughter came to US on H4 and just a couple of months before got changed to F1 status. She got her H4 visa stamped till June 2004.

She is in sr. year of her bachelor's degree and could only complete her graduation by Dec. 2004 and later 1 year OPT .

We forsee some urgency to visit India around June 2004 and need to get F1 visa stamped, so as to come back from India and complete studies and OPT.

Has any one tried to get F1 visa stamped from Canada? What are the success rates in such cases? In case of denial, can she come back to US? Will they stamp denial in Pass port?

Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

In case of denial, she cannot come into US.
One of the reasons why h4 to h1 is denied in canada is because of the inability of the US consur people to verify or authenticate the non-us/canada educational qualifications of the applicant.
This will definitely weigh in. But since it is a bachelor's program I dont see any problems.
Hopefully you have posted this question in the F visa forum.

Thanks Jaxen.

If I understand correctly, you mean h4 to h1 visa is hard t get it from Canada while h4 to f1 visa 'd not be a problem.

Can you please tell us how to get prepared for the interview and in case of any denial, what should be our back up plan?

Can we get H4 visa, in case of denial, and get back to US? She 'd be eligible for H4 till May 2004 ( She completes 21 by that time ).

How long does it take to get H4 visa at Canada in case of F1 visa denial?

Appreciate your help.

Thanks.
