change to premium process or? URGENT!!

My OPT expired in the mid of Aug. I am currently in grace period which is going to end on Oct.13.
As most of you, I am waiting for H1 (applied in June, I know I still have long way to go). But I would be out of status if I don't get H1 by Oct.13.
Should I change my application to premium process immediately? How long will it take? Will I be save?
or I should extend my I20. If I register on the class which starts on Nov.1, can I keep my status and stay in US to H1?

or any other suggestions?

u wont be out of status even after 13th if ur visa request is pending. u can legally stay here. but if u want to know the result soon, u shud go for premium processing.

pending means, till the time the decision is not made.

ur opt grace period is till 13th. u must have applied for h1 starting before that. so its uscis's problem that they r not approving on time. u can stay here...if u get approval u can start working. in case of rejection u'll get some notice time frame to vacate country.

I am in the same situation. my current visa is till 30th september. and I have requested for h1 start date as 1st october. I am still waiting for approval.
