Change of Status from H4 to F1

Hello,

I am currently on H4 and wish to change my status to F1.
I have taken 6 units through Open university at SJSU in Fall '08 and 9 units in Fall '10 after being enrolled in MSEE program. I have 15 units before I graduate.

If I apply for status change right now I understand that actual status change might not happen till March-April '11. Though before the Spring '11 semester ends I would be on F1.
Would I be eligible for CPT in Summer '11?

Can I take reduced course load for Fall '11 and get OPT?

Kindly do answer my queries.

CPT is part of the curriculum. Since OPT and CPT are often used interchangable when they are not, you need to discuss your questions with the DSO for the university for the best advise of what is available through the university.
