change of status from Extended B2 tourist visa to H1B work visa, possible?

Hi everyone,

I am currently on a B2 tourist visitor visa in the USA, with an I-94 form that is valid until April 21st. My stay has been a bit disappointing in terms of trips I’ve been able to do, and I really want to have some more time. Therefore I am planning to apply for an extension of my visa for another 6 months.

I have no idea what I want to do afterwards, probably go back to Holland, my home country, and find a job. But I’m also thinking that maybe I could find a job in the USA to get some international experience. I’m very undecided yet. My question is this: say, if I find an American company willing to sponsor me to work for them on a H1B visa, could I start working soon after my extended B2 visa ends, could I even change the status of my extended B2 directly into a H1B status, or would the US government require me to spend time at home first?

Thanks for any answers, you’d really help me out here.

Do you have a white coloured I-94 or a green coloured I-94W?
With regards to work, if you secure an H-1B employer, I would advise you to return to Holland and get an H-1B visa.
