Change of Status from B to L

Dear All,

I am in US now on a valid B1 visa.

For changing the status from B1 to L1 - do I have to wait for 90 days since last entry in the US (appearing on I-94) or can it be done anytime.

To clarify - I want the processing to be done in the US itself and not in home country.

The L-1 visa is available to individuals who are transferred to a U.S. Company after having worked at least one of the last three years at a foreign subsidiary, affiliate, branch, or parent company. The L-1A visa is available to employees who will work in a managerial or executive capacity. The L-1B visa is available to employees who will work in a position requiring “specialized knowledge.” So you need employer approval before you can obtain L1 visa.
