Hello Friends,

I am a Permanent resident since 01/05/05 (i.e. since about 2 years and 5 months).
I did work for my sponsoring employer until 07/31/06 (i.e. for about 1 year 6 months). Later i changed to different employer ABC but i had the same Job title(Programmer Analyst).
Now, I got laid off by the new employer ABC. They did give me a letter saying they terminated my employment as there isn't sufficient budget for my project contract/position.

So, at this point of time I am thinking of starting my own business(planning to start a restaurant).

Will this become a problem when I apply for citizenship, as my profession is changing from an IT Job to a Restaurant Business ?

Any input will be appreciated. Thank You in advance.

No problems. Your intent was clearly to stay with your employer, but they made your position redundant, and you have a termination letter to prove it.

How about if I was laid off by the sponsoring company during my GC process and already filed AC21?

I just received my GC approval. Do I need to go back to the sponsoring company?

thank you,

I don't think that you need to go back to the original sponsor, as he already laid you off. So, you should be fine.

What is "filing AC21"?

Is there any separate paper work and forms that you must file with USCIS if you change jobs (or get layed off) whilst on EAD after 6 month of filing I485? I think there was none in my time (2003), or was there?
Thanks.
