Hi, I currently hold Lithuanian passport but have opportunity to get British one within 3 months... My wife is the one who won the GC and I am listed as additional person along with our son.. I am thinking would it be OK if I turn up to interview with British passport instead of Lithuanian..

I want to do this because I dont know if I`ll be able to live in USA and Uk currently is a little shaky on whole EU business so I dont want to end up being kicked out of UK to Lithuania, additionally Lithuania doesnt support dual-nationality, so if I decide to get US passport, I will completely loose all connections with europe

It would be best if my wife got it too, but one of 7 points in getting UK citizenship is to have intention of staying and living in UK which when applying for Permament Resident Card of USA doesnt look right at all...

If I resign from GC how long will it take for me to get one through my wife?

Thank you all.

I'm not sure if they allow you to change your country of citizenship, but it might not be a problem as you qualify as a derivative. Also, do you intend to move to the US immediately after getting the GC, or do you intend to go back to the UK to wrap things up? If you intend to get a re-entry permit and stay out of the US for some time before finally moving, you can apply for British citizenship then, AFTER you get the GC.

Getting one through your wife will take a few years.

Are you not living together right now?
