Change of FO while doing AOS

Hi guys,

My number will be current probably in May and my FO is Washington DC. Since I have heard that this FO is inefficient, do you think that I request to do AOS in another FO?

You do your process where you live, so are you prepared to move to another area?

Oh and May should be fine to start the process - because if you are current in May you can start your paperwork in about 7 weeks from now - i.e. 1 month early - 1st April.

I do not want to move to another state. But I can provide them an address of a friend so that our interview letter will be mailed there and I can have a trip to that state for the interview. There are people waiting for the interview letter for 5 months and still getting wired answers when visiting USCIS. So, what do you think?

There are ways to push it through - and a May start is fine! Don't worry about it.

Claiming an address where you do not reside on your immigration forms is misrepresentation that could potentially hurt you in the long run. Remember the address you provide is not just for the purpose of assigning your FO or for receiving your GC, it is part of what will be used to carry out your background check.

Just make sure you are actively preparing and involved in the 2014 AOS thread - the folks there are brilliant and will help you push your case through....

Thanks for the answer. It was exactly my question that if this can affect my interview and in long run getting my GC? So, it seems that it does have a negative effect according to what you just said.

I am following the thread and actually it makes me worried more and more as our friends doing AOS in Washington FO could not even get a reasonable answer of what is really happening there!! So, I do not know if this happens to us as we will be current in May in the best case what should we do?
