b Hi,
I would like to discuss about the problems associated with changing address during I485.
 
I called VSC to tell them my new address

on 07/15/2001. I received my renewed EAD on 07/19/2001 mailed to my
new address. On 09/10/2001, we received our courtesy copies of I-485
approval notice mailed to my new address also.

Changed my address and no RFE

Changing an address does not mean you will get an RFE. For instance, I changed my address 1 week ago but did not receive any RFE.

So changing your address within the same state you live in is not going to delay thew processing of your GC.

I moved from NJ to IL IN AUG. Got my EAD & AP IN JULY and Iam waiting for my FP.My lawyer suggested not to change the address during I485 because file will be moved from one service center to another.is it true?

Did you change your address before getting FP?.I heard that main applicant will be getting FP notice and not the lawyer.
 
Qingming...Thank you for your info. It helped.

After seeing your posting, I called INS to update my address. Earlier I sent g-734v form to update my address but I\'m not sure whether it was done. I am waiting for cards. IIO was very courteous but was in a hurry. She asked me A# and asked me the address and updated immediately. That was it. It\'s done. Scary thing was, there is no verification of my name, my old address etc. She did not check the number I gave was the right one or not. I really appreciate their trust in the callee, but atleast some check should be there while changing crucial information. I just want to thank you for posting such valuable information.

I am not sure about Service Center change. You lawyer may be right. My suggestion is that Keeping your legal residence in NJ so that you are legally resided in New Jersey with proper IDs.
