change of address, informing lawyer or not
I will move to another state pretty soon, my 485 got approved couple of months ago, but haven't received the plastic card. I know I am requested to inform INS about my address change, my question is: do i need to tell my lawyer the change? she is not very helpful, nor cooperative and friendly during my 485 pending period.

Thanks a lot for your advice and Merry Christmas!!! May Santa bring everyone the freedom that you are waiting for!!!

I wouldn't

If that's how I felt about my relationship with my attorney. In theory, you the client, are the boss in the client-attorney relationship, but this is one of those customer relationships where theory doesn't necessarily translate into practice.

I guess the point of this rather digressive long-winded pontification is that you are supposed to and should call the shots with regard to your attorney, and if you don't want to tell her, don't. Next time, you need an attorney, I'm guessing you'd be looking elsewhere, and this would be your current attorney's loss, not yours.

davli024,

I agree with norfesept on his comment that - you're the boss and stuff. But if I was in your shoes, I would just let the attorney know - what if something you never know pops up and wanted your clarification on that - atleast you wont regret not informing her. Either way, sending her an email or a written letter in this case just doesnt have to be at the cost of eating your pride and doesnt take much time.

I have the same situation as u had I told my Lawyer that I am moving he told that u don't change ur address & keep paying rent for 3-4 months which I thought is very costly.
So I am filing AR-11 calling 1-800 #
Can u please tell whether ur address change was updated by INS?
Can u please tell whether u also filed G-731N form for getting plastic to new address?

Tx

I guess the reason why attorney asked to keep your residential address is that, assuming that yours is an employment based befnefit, after your I-485 approval if you change your job very soon, that maybe persumed as fraud and may come up when you apply for other benefits in the future.
just 'n fair
