Change Jobs before I -140 approval & after 180 days of filing

My situation is as follows :

I filed my I -140 and 485 concurrently on dec. 2003. I got my EAD. But my I -140 is not approved yet. I have finished my 6 years of H1 and have filed a one year extension which expires by May 2005. My wife is currently working on H1 – B

The company I worked for was acquired by another company and now I became an employee of the new company. It is so possible that by Jan 2005, I may be asked to leave the company as a result of this acquisition. So, I have the following questions :

1. If I am laid off, will I be eligible to work on my EAD and continue my green card process ?
2. If I am certain that I will be laid off, can I look for openings in other company and leave on my own accord?
3. My wife is currently working in a different state and hence wants to come and work in the same city as me. She will mostly get a job, but based on my EAD only. So, if I loose my Job will she be eligible to continue to work. What does she need to do to maintain her job status?

Thanks

as of now u r safe only if I-140 approved, then u can use AC-21. some have been successful if their companies did not revoke the I-140, but dont depend on that.

after I-140 approved, you can safely depend on the EAD. But it might be better to stick to H1 just in case.

As for ur wife, her EAD will be valid till ur I-485 is pending, if I-485 is denied for whatever reason including revocation of I-140 then her EAd is gone too.

My situation is similar to ppandit.

What happens if I get laid off before my I-140 is approved? (BTW it took CIS 500 days to request more evidence on my case and I still don't know what they want since I haven't received any documents yet)
When my old company was acquired the working conditions changed drastically (pay rate, schedule, benefits, etc.), will this affect the outcome of my I-140?
Can I get a new job and still continue my 485 process?
Thank you for the help.
