Change in Residency

Dear Friends,

Does anyone has any idea how difficult it is to get into a different residency program after 1 year of categorical position in a US hospital. Is it easy to switch next year to a different hospital and/or different field. Or is it too difficult to switch. Does the hospital requires you to sign a bond when you join. I would appreciate your comments and suggestions a lot.

Hi,

first of all you should specify what specialty and what visa..if its internal medicine and J1 or green card its pretty much possible to find another spot..If its something like radiology and H1 it is virtually impossible to find another spot. All you have to do to find another spot is call up places and ask them if they have a PGY2 position ad if so are they willing to take you on the visa you want.
