change citizenship during J-1

Suppose that I start working on J-1, subject to 2-year home country residency requirement. And during the period, I successfully change my citizenship to another country (e.g. Canada). So after my J-1 expires, do I have to go back to my previous home country to fulfill the requirement? Is it realistic as I am no longer the citizen of that country?
Thanks for any input!

I'm having the same situation as you have, citizenship change doesn't mean you can skip the waiver. My lawer filed "impossibility of perform" for my waiver, it has been a year and my case is still pending, I was told this is case by case process and will take long time. I'm kind of waiting and search for sulutions to speed up the case.
