Change Address !! Will This Trigger Interview

I am thinking of changing my residence
and if i still reside in the bay area but
change cities within 30miles radius
will this trigger an interview.
Since the law says that i need to inform
INS about where i live.

and if i do get interview how long is the wait
for the san jose office

i am weighing the benefits of moving??
 
Can we change residence without triggering an interview

Yes I changed

address while my 485 was in process.

I also mailed the AR11s(form to inform INS of address change). But it seems that is a totally different thing. I did not get any RFE.

Of course, obviously, that does not mean anything, really. One man's experience is not necessarily a guideline for others.
 
Actually I changed twice

Once, about 3 months after filing I485(lets say Addr1). My lawyer's asst said she faxed the address change to INS. (And truly, my approval notice came to Addr1).

But after about 7 months after filing I again moved(to say, Addr2), but this time, I just sent the AR-11s directly as certified post. I did not inform my lawyer too.

Finally, when my approval notice arrived, I told my lawyer about the Addr2 and he said it should not matter, but asked me to write the new address on a paper and make sure the lady stamping my passport records it properly in her books.

While stamping, the lady asked me to write down the new address on the approval notice itself. So I am still not sure, if I will get the plastic card to this new address (Addr2).

I guess, the point is please comply with AR-11 since that is more from a security perspective. INS is not that efficient to percolate that info to all units. So you still might be lucky not to get any RFE, but again cant be sure.

I changed my address 3 months after filing I-485
The new and old address are within 5 miles distance.

My attoney informed INS about address change by post mail.
However INS never updated their record and sent
FP on old address. Fortunately Post Office forwarded
the notice to new address.

Later I called IIO and asked them to update my address.
This worked and I got approval on new address.

No Interview, but I got RFE. The RFE was not related
to address change. It was for EVL
 
I'm thinking of chaning address, just wondering if anybody else got interviews or transferred their cases to sub-office since nov/dec 02.
 
i moved too

I moved 4 months after applying I-485. Mailed AR-11 by standard US mail (no certified mail). So I do not even know if INS received it.

Received AP and EAD at the old address.

But the post office returned the FP documents back to INS. I used my lawyer's courtesy copy for FP.

After INS got the returned FP notice, some good guy at the INS mail handling area took a new envelop and put the FP notice and along with the old envelop (that was returned) and mailed it to my new address.

But I already completed FP.
 
What if you do not inform INS and still get the interview, and your paystubs show your new address ? This will not be a good situation to be in. So, my taking on this is that you better inform them. That way you will be relaxed that you did not violate any rules/regulations if you are called for interview.
 
filing AR-11 mandatory

Post 9/11 INS is very serious about AR-11. They tried to deport people who did not file AR-11 (a judge threw that case out). So it is better to inform INS about change of address.
 
I never filed AR11, should I now?

ALL,

I landed in MA, then moved to CA for project and changed compaies in CA, then applied for GC, after applying GC i didn't moved.

So should I send AR-11, since the original place where I started in US is diff then my current address?
