hi all,

What are the chances of getting a H1 stamped at kolkatta consulate without a project on hand ? After spending 6 years in US on H1 and 1 year in India, I have a new H1 again. But I don't think I'll have a project before I land in US. My appointment is 4 weeks from today.

What kind of questions would I face ?

How are the chances ?

Any pointers would be really appreciated..

well if you have all the documents, letter from employer, new H1 approval etc, you can go for stamping and not mention anything about the project. The only thing that matters is that you not come to Us till the company agrees to pay u reagrdless of a project.

The employer should pay you whether or not you are in a project.
Make sure the employment letter spells this out .... that is one of the basic rules of a H1.
Anyone that's not paying you, when not on a project. is doing something illegal and violating the original LCA terms.

If your employer is going to act "legally", you can get it stamped rightaway.
If not, its better to wait till you get a project -- atleast your life when you get back to the US would be relatively stress free.
