Chances of getting a new TN visa

I got my first TN visa sponsored by a consulting firm (staffing agency) just this May 1, 2007. Unfortunately, they don't have any project available for me. After 2 weeks, I went back home to Canada and they said just they will just contact me if any project comes up. But if ever I found a new job, they are willing to let me go. Fortunately, I got a job offer from another company and I informed the consulting firm that I can no longer be part of their company. I just want to know what are my chances of getting a new TN visa. And what's the right thing to say to the officer if they asked me why am I leaving my previous company in just a short term? What will happen to my existing TN visa? Last time I applied at Ottawa and there were no problems. So I decided to apply there again this July 31. Please advise...

Really!? How generous. What did you expect them to do, lock you in a basement somewhere?

The right thing to say is nothing. You are in Canada, so you aren't "in" TN status. Its as if that one never existed, which if you think about it, never did.

Hand in the old card, saying you will not be needing it.

My contract with them is as a full time employee. When I went home, they even gave me a whole month pay cheque.

Twice, I went back in US for job interviews under TN visa.

The fact that you are not "working" for your sponsor makes it invalid. payment for nothing means nothing. Its not your fault the TN didn't pan out, but don't compound the problem by using it.

By all means, cross for interviews, but simply use B2 not an iffy TN. You live in Canada so this should not be a problem.

If they catch you using phoney TN, you will have little chance of getting a real one.
