Case Under review?

Hello everyone,
I just called NSC and for a change, got thru to a nice IO. She said my case has been assigned to an officer and is under review. I asked if anything is pending and she said no.
Since a lot of poeple must be in the same boat or have gone thru this stage.. what does assigned to an offcer mean? How long does it take to approve after that? Do I have any hope of getting approved by july2, when the expected flood of applications will happen and NSC will be swamped all over again?

questions, questions.

You may get an approval in a matter of hours or several weeks. Nobody
knows...Did you have any out of status history? In those cases they do an intensive review usually. A friend of me got an RFE on medical on last week of May 2007 and answered in first week of June. Todate he did not get a decision. Its painful but what to do bro? Do a service request and get status thru senator or something...all the best bro...hope you will get cleared asap.

Well, i got the same response when i called yesterday. I think we should be concerned about cases which are assigned to officer for review have visa number allocated already? If yes, we should get the approvals for pending cases in next month.

sbabunle: No I haven't been out of status at all. My RFE was after AC-21, when previous employer withdrew 140. All answered in time and everything.
I did a Service Request and got a generic letter stating that the case is waiting for visa number availibility. So the response was obviously wrong as my PS is current.

skp19722003: So it can still take a lot of time inspite of being with an officer. In that case, I should get back to work.....:(

When I spoke to an CSR yesterday, she said that they're strictly going to follow RD&PD to approve cases, even in July too.

I got a response from Service Request

that states "Your case is currently under review. You should receive a decision or notice of other action within 60 days of this letter".

I am not sure how to interpret it. Anyone has experience?

dwz1234, question when did you open up a service Request, when the dates were showing processing for march 2007 or did you open it after USCIS corrected I485 case processing dates back to Sept 2006.
I have an RD close to yours, and prior to your post thought one could only initiate a SR after the visa bulletin's processing dates for I 485 cross our RD.
