Hi Johnny,
Hope you're still around to respond.
My father's I-485 is still pending due to completion of "routine background checks". And his case didn't have a receipt number because it was sent to the local office (a little after I filed for my parents, they changed the submission place of family based applications to Chicago Lock Box).
Recently, after changing the resident address on my father's file, I got a verification letter from USCIS about the address change. To my surprise, they added a receipt number to his case. So, I was finally able to check his case status online. This is what it says:
"Application Type: I181, CREATION OF RECORD OF LAWFUL PERMANENT RESIDENCE
Current Status: Case received and pending.
On January 26, 2005, we received this I181 CREATION OF RECORD OF LAWFUL PERMANENT RESIDENCE, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register."
Obviously, this was never updated, since my father was interviewed in July, 2005. But the question I had when I read this, was about I-181. Apparently, they do not create it ONCE the I-485 is approved.
Am I right? Or something else is wrong with this picture. What do you think?
