Case status inquiry and Senator

I made a case status enquiry for my case and was informed that they will send a notice in 3 to 4 weeks. Is it a good idea to approach a senator at this stage and have him to initiate an inquiry.

I think you can wait for another 2 weeks or so and even nothing happens then you should contact your Congressman/Senator and explain them in detail by writing a letter and you never know if might help your case.
