Hi
Anyone ever seen this message below from the online case check system?

"Status for this Receipt Number cannot be found at this time in this automated system. Please check your case receipt number to see if it is correct. If you have questions or concerns about your case status, please contact the service center where you submitted your application. "

when I call the BCIS number I get the usual auto message that has always been there "..your fingerprints have been blah blah blah "

fyi, its a May 02 case

The last time I saw this message, my experience tells me it (the online status) was being updated; in my case I saw this right after my RFE received and 2nd FP received messages. A few hours later, I received email (I registered at USCIS) that my case has been approved :)

I was curious enough to call in the 800 number and found the message to be FP received at that time.

What is your case history ? I mean the current scenario of your case - such as RFE/FP etc would give you a clue ...

Case status information has reapperaed with no change. I had slightly dared to hope it might have meant something that the info had disappeared but it must have been a glitch.
The old line is back about receiving fingerprints. Just fyi case status- second FP were done in June 2003 on a May 02 I485

While doing my scan my Scanner flags numbers that are not found in the system. I manually check them. Sometimes they come back with original
status and sometimes approved. So its a mix of both. Some bloke is trying
to learn sql on the job and runs a query and says...."OH! Shoot". Then it
takes someone who knows a little more sql to go and modify the database
the rookie screwed up.

No idea how the whole IT set up works at USCIS. But in the past my
experience with working on such systems tells me that you don't expose
the actual or main database to web directly for something as simple as
status. This has many problems. One is you open up the main database
to security holes and hacker attacks. Second is performance. On a busy
day hackers can bring down the main database or slow it down by performing
large number of queries. So for reporting and other status purposes you
transfer the entire database to some other machine. This machine then
serves as a front for the web. Now you can setup this update in many
ways. Twice a day, Thrice a day. Can mostly be done during the night.

My guess is that if they have such a system in place then updates are
probably done first thing in morning and during lunch time and maybe in the
evening. This is just an assumption based on when people have got mail.

I have personally received updates early morning and after lunchtime. So
that is my assumption.

Now when you have a database you will always have data problems. Your
data cannot be 100% correct. Databases however reliable will fail at certain
points, problems will occure due to bad code and all kind of stuff. Records
can go missing.

So if your status does not show up due to some problem maybe the chance
is that ti will be fixed in the next run of data transfer. So one should always
give it a day to check back.

Does anybody have a clue about what kind of system they have at USCIS.

It will be interesting to know. Also if people can post the time that they
received the mails from USCIS we can take a guess at when they update
the system.

But I have to give it to them. Their IT is extremely good with what they do.

User12345: did u notice any change

I had the same experience but no changes at all on my last update date. User12345, did u notice any change on your case

Hi

It happened two more times since ie status disappeared and then reapperaed a day or so later. Now it is stable. Sadly the status has not changed nor has the touch date ( its my spouses case by the way). So it still says the same message as it has for almost a year.
With an early May ND though perhaps there may be progress soon......
