case number vs file number

I just got a receipt from chicago illinois dept of employment security acknowleding receipt of application for Foreign Labor certification. There is a file number which looks somewhat like V-IL-4xxxx-x and not like the usual Case # : 05xxxxx what is this file number? How do I track my case?

this is ur file number for the state of illinois. once illinois forwards ur application to chicago dol, the chicago dol will assign u a new case # like 054#####.

i dnt think chicago dol will send u a receipt, but u cud check ur status frm email or automated telephone by using ur employer telephone number specified on ur LC application when using the fone or ur employer tax-id specified on ur LC when using the email.

Thanks. How long will it take for the state to forward my application to DOL? DOL, SESA, SWA .. they all confuse me!!!

processing time

illinois is currently processing cases received in jan 2003 under RIR and cases received in april 2001 for regular labor LC.
