Hi,

The case number I have on my recently cashed checks is ONLY 9 characters and not 13. It does not have any asterisks. How should I put in to the system at USCIS?

Thanks

I am assuming what you have on check is 3 letters of the service center and 6 numbers. Something like ESC 123456. Based on that, you can construct the case number like ESC*00123456

Hope this helps.

Yes exactly, it is an LIN code with 6 numbers. I tried to do that but it says that the case number cannot be found, I presume it has not been entered in the system?

the receipt number is 13 characters long. if you have just 6 starting from 1, then your full number is
LIN*001 xxx xxx

otherwise just wait for the receipt - your case will be in the system by then.

In my example, I had only 2 leading zeros it should be three because the case number is 13 characters long. It should be ESC*000123456.

Try that and see if it works.

My LIN number starts with 9 and is 6 letters. I suppose I will just wait for the receipt in the mail or try again later once it might have been entered in the system.

LIN No#

Greetings:

My updates :

N-400 appln sent - 9/1/06
N-400 Appln recieved - 9/5/06
Checks encashed - 9/8/06
Nebraska Service Center
Kansas City District Office

Number on check - LIN ( 6 digit number starting with 9)

Unable to create a successful 13 digit number yet.

Will update once I recieve any communication from USCIS ?

Any ideas how much time would it take for FP ?

Thanks,
Haresh

if it is just 6 numbers starting from 9 then try this:

NSC*001 xxx xxx
or
NSC*000 xxx xxx

for naturalization petition, they started using different letters (WSC for california center that used to be WAC) so... you got other options to try

receipt should arrive within 10 days after check's been cashed
good luck
