Let us share some experiences about case not found issue and Jan/01 RD and beyond. Like I-140 approved for CP/AOS, Spoke to I/O regarding the case, and their response. AVM update the time frame.
I will appreciate sharing some knowledge for the benefit of me and others alike

Feb 01 ND case not found

ND 02/06/01
Family of 3. AVM used to say "Your application...", then sometime in May/June it went to "Case not found".
Then I applied for EAD at the end of June (my wife and daughter applied for EAD along with I-485). And it looks like when my application for EAD was received by INS, they updated AVM for my EAC so now it says "Your application..." for me, but "Case not found" for my wife and daughter.
That makes me believe that they might update AVM whenever they touch your application. That is, if your message went from not found to "application was received..." that might mean they may be doing something with your case.

Did not talk to IIO till now regarding my case yet. Not Approved yet.

RD 10/01 ND 17/01 PD 10/99 CP -140 but applied for 485 EB2 RIR India

AVM updated from " case not found" to "case received" on Oct. 15 th evening for me and my wife. But still "case not found" for my kid.

Ok! Here is my take on it...

Cases are randomly given in bulk to IIO\'s. As soon as cases are assigned, some IIO\'s go into the system and mark that they have aquired the file and keep them in the queue. Other IIO\'s just don\'t bother about marking them as aquired, they simply look at the complete file and either they approve the case, issue an RFE, or transfer the case. AVM is update everytime IIO does something to your file (this includes aquiring the file).
Therefore, we see for some cases, message is changing from "case not found" to "received on blah blah....." while for others it is changing to "approved".
My observation is that the fastest guy/group is not aquiring the file, rather they are simply working smart by doing everything in one swing. All the lucky guys who get early approvals are assigned to this group/guy.
In my case the message is changed from "case not found" to "Your appl. is received on jan 19..." on either 10/04 or 10/05. Hoping that somebody started looking at my case aprrove it in the next week or so.

Any comments????

I am not sure about that...

Srp:
Nice observation though and I don\'t think we ever can figure out how
IIOs work. In My case (RD Jan 19/01 ND Jan 29/01 FP May 01/01), the AVM was updated to "Case received on..." from "case not found" couple of weeks back. I was thinking the same thing.."maybe they have started to look into my case". After two week (i.e. after AVM message was changed to "Case received on...blah blah"), yesterday I called the IIO and she said it went to an officer today. So, I have no clue how they work man. All I can say is Good Luck to you all!!!!

Yak&Yeti

Here is what I think I see a "pattern". Most of the approved cases went from \'case not found\' to \'approved. Wherever \'case received\', I believe there may be a potential RFE in waiting. This is just a guess.

I dont think so

mine is feb ND, I used to get case not found, until I called IIO to change address.
few days after the message changed to "received on .."

case not found

ND 12/29/01, FP 5/4/01

case not found, try to call vsc at day time, but never can go through.

Re: Case not found

The AVM message for our case (spouse and mine) used to say "Case not found". My spouse recently spoke to IIO asking for case details and both our messages then changed to "Case recvd...". You have to call IIO to get it changed if desired. Otherwise they will update only after processing (whether approved or RFE). My ND is Jan 29, 2001

glad about feb cases

guys i am glad to see that feb cases are being approved.my rd is jan 26 and nd is feb 7 with case not found and i am eagerly waiting. wish you all good luck and god bless america

I think \'afternandes\' is correct

My \'case not found\' changed to \'received on..\' after I told the IIO that AVM says case not found. She said that she\'d change it and it would take a couple of days and after two days it changed to \'received on\', Spouse case still \'not found\' as I had not mentioned about spouse\'s case.
