My case status on USCIS website reads as follows.

I have not received any approval notice or welcome notice in mail. Its been over 40 days. I didnt receive any emails as I was not registered on email notification until today.

I applied I-485 on July 9, 2010 ( on basis of an approved EB-1).

Please share any similar experiences.

Card/ Document Production
On August 4, 2010 we mailed the document to the address we have on file. You should receive the new document within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

This step applies to applications that result in an applicant receiving a card (such as a "green card") or other document (such as a naturalization certificate, employment authorization document, travel document, or advance parole). Applications will be in this step from the time the order to produce the card/document is given until the card/document is produced and mailed to the applicant. You can expect to receive your card/document within 30 days of the approval of your application.
If you do not receive your document, please contact our National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.[/COLOR]

if you are staying at the same address that you wrote on form I-485 then Card will come to that address.for more info you can call them and keep your I-485 filing receipt number and A# so that they can find the status.

My address is the same.

Isnt it unusual that on-line status is 'card/document production' since August 4, 2010 and I have not received any approval notice, welcome notice or other correspondence in mail from them after more than 40 days?

Could this on-line status be an error? is it possible that they were mailing me I-485 receipt notice and thats what they mean when they mention about mailing a document on august 4, 2010.

Have you given fingerprints yet? If not, it's probably the fingerprint notice that was mailed. Usually when it says "we mailed the document", it's an RFE or some other notice, not the green card or approval notice.

you are probably right. They must have mailed either finger print or receipt notice.
If that is the case, my status on line should not have reached the last circle i.e card/document production. Instead, it should have been one of the earlier circles in the series.

They must have mailed either finger print or receipt notice.

You mean you still have not received the receipt notice?

If you havent received it, then how do you know the receipt number in order to check the status online?

Receipt notic was sent to my attorney.

What i meant was that the message on-line saying 'on august 4, 2010 document was mailed to the address we have on file.....' was referred to the receipt notice mailed.

Make an Infopass appointment to find out what was sent. If it was the fingerprint notice, you need to know, because they may deny your I-485 for missing the fingerprinting. Take your I-485 receipt notice and passport with you.

OK. But you should still make an appointment to find out whatever was sent on August 4. It could be an RFE, and if you take too long to respond to the RFE they can delay or deny your case.
