Can't retrieve my original file

I filed my family based green card application 6/25/2008 (my wife is US Citizen). I had the interview 12/8/2008 and got the I-551 stamp on my passport. The IO congratulated me on getting the GC. But until now, I still have not got the card. The explanation I got is they can not retrieve my original file from NSC (I live in LA, CA. I don't know why the original file is in NSC.). They said they requested it 4 times, but can't get it. That's why my I485 is still pending. I went to InfoPass 3 times in last 3 months, got the same answer again and again. Can anyone tell me what should I do? Thank you.

Since 3 infopasses did not do the job, did you consider attorney representing you now.
Sometimes it is worth spending $200 - $1000 max

Since you got the I-551 stamp, your I-485 is not pending, it is approved and you are a permanent resident. Only the physical card is pending.

They can't make it pending again just by telling you it's an accident. They have to follow the rescission process. Contact the Ombudsman. What does your online status say for the I-485?

This happened to me once before for my H-1B visa File and it took them more than a year to get the file back from the storage. The officer accidently sent the file to storage after RFE was sent out .

In the meantime I had to request a Premium processing for that H-1B and the Officer requested a duplicate copy of all my documents and processed the case.

In your case since there is no option for premium processsing for I-485 , I would suggest that you call the local Congressmen's office and explain your situation. They will get in touch with USCIS to get this resolved or atleast get you an update through the congressional liason office.

There is very little an Attorney can do when the file is missing/sent to storage.
