No! I don't see a problem!!
I cannot think of any other way to meet all requirements:
income requirements, live and pay taxes in Canada for a year.
If you could ask your friend to post his experience and comments, now that would be great.
I spoke with my friend, and he informed me that he put the US Work address. He also informed me that his application was processed in 3 weeks by CPC. He actually received a call from CPC, and he was asked about his employment in the US. He was also asked as to where he was living presently, and was asked some questions about what he had put in the application.
He also stated that he enclosed his tax assessment which was returned to him along with the approval letter.
