Canadian parent, American Children

My husband and I lived in the US for almost 10 years. We started out on TN status yearly then on the H1B and applied for green card. We accepted a job overseas with a different company for a 2 year contract. We kept our home as our vacation spot inside of the US and have spent 3 months a year there since we have been gone. I have some health issues now and need surgery. I will have to bring my children with me and put them in school. My treatment may take 8 months but do not want to have this done anywhere else but at my own DR there is the US. What is the best way for me to do this and if I am gone that long I don't want to pull my children out of school half way through the year. Am I able to stay for the year without problems. They are American and we have not money problems what so ever. Any advice?

I suggest that you consult an attorney to see what additional suggestions he has. Since you would not be a public charge, there are options reported to be available for medical treatment; the use is not common so it is doubtful anyone on this forum could advise you of the documentation requirements.
