Canadian Green Card

Hi Guys,
I am from India, on H1B and applied for I-140/485 Semi-Concurrent and waiting for approval. I am also thinking to apply Canadian Green Card as a backup, as you can get it in 10-12 months. Does any body know:
1. what are the complications if you apply for permanent residency for two countries?
2. is it legal?
3. what happens if both are approved? Can you maintain both?

Please direct me to some links if you have any.

No Complications.

YES
3. what happens if both are approved? Can you maintain both?
Well, you will have to live for atleast 183 days per year in Canada to maintain your PR status there. Thats what the rule says. I dont know if there are any loopholes to that.

- Per present rules u can stay out of Canada for a 3 year period in a given 5 year period.

- Don't disclose your application details to Canadian Authorities or INS,technically you are not supposed to apply for residensy at both places. It means you are deserting your residensy somewhere.

- It will not bring any complications untill u open pandoras box ur self

But how can you do that. Remember you are fingerprinted for 485 and also for canada pr as well. so your name is there..

Finger print is cleared by FBI not INS.

Do you think FBI is so concerned about a single case they will go tell INS?

I don't know how it works but since FBI is the same source for both do they inform INS all details about a guy or just his criminal records from FP or name check?
