Canadian Citizen Entering U.S. as F-1 Student

I have a question:

I am a Canadian citizen who got admitted to a U.S. graduate school for Fall 2004. I understand that I do not need an F-1 student visa to apply for admission to the U.S. But what other documents should I bring to the port-of-entry? Can I get an entry permit in advance at the border before I acutally move to the U.S.? What questions does the U.S. immigration officer ask?

I'm also in the US on a F1 visa from Canada. When I got my entry permit, I brought pretty much every document I could think of to show customs....my letter of acceptance to school, my documents that show financial sponsorship, photocopies of my previous degrees, hmm...trying to think what else.

Well it turns out that they didn't ask me anything at all. They just looked at my application, stamped it, and that was it. It took 5 mins. I have heard others get drilled with questions...where will you be living, what are your ties to Canada, etc etc. They'll basically ask you questions to confirm you will be going to school, and that you have every intention of returning to Canada when you're done.

And yes, I did get my entry permit before I moved to the US. I went a few weeks before my move date.

Hope that helps!
