Can a person open a bank account in Canada online without going in person to the branch if he/she a Canadian permanent resident/ has a Canadian DL and SIN but he is outside Canada?
 
I donot think you can open regular checking about without going there. May be you can open online accounts.
Donot take my word 100% that I feel when I landed and opened account personally there.
 
Being in the US, we tend to get used to some luxurious services. Unfortunately, some of those are not available in Canada. I do not think you can open an account online. You might be able to do so, but full access will only be available once you go to the bank in person.

Check out the site of banks like Royal Bank, etc. and you might get more information.
