I am a Canadian citizen and I have entered US numerous times, but this time, it was rather unique as the immigration officer entered N/C on my passport with an "until" date (by which i need to leave US). Me and bunch of my other friends were just coming for a vacation and were going to stay for 2 weeks.

Usually they just write N/C and let me through. Has this ever happened to someone? Or this is a new thing that they're implementing to Canadians. They did the same to one of my other friend, but 3 of my other friends just got an N/C.

I just want to know if this is a common occurence. And what is N/C btw?

yeah don't worry about it. I had a similar question couple of weeks ago and one of my friend got a N/C in her passport and exit date for 9 months later. But her situation was different. She was doing medical school rotations and had paperwork from school. But anyway, Triple citizen is right N/C is another name for Canadian B1/B2 without issuing I-94. And as a Canadian you're allowed to stay with default 6-month. But they could write a date to make your stay less or more (ie. depending upon how convince the immigration officer is, with your story and past stays in US)

(iii) Non-controlled Nonimmigrants (e.g. Canadian B-1/B-2)

Nonimmigrants, who are not issued a Form I-94 , Arrival/Departure Record, are treated as nonimmigrants admitted for D/S for purposes of determining unlawful presence.
(I looked up that N/C term from one of the US immigration website: http://imminfo.com/Resources/CIS/AFM_40_9.html#0-0-0-1911

Thanks Triple Citizen for clarifying that term for me couple of days ago.
