Canadian and US Dual Citizenship question

So after searching the forums I'm just a tad more confused then when I started. :)

My wife (Canadian) is in process of adjusting status to PR in US. I am US citizen. Our daughter was born here, I suppose it's safe to assume she is a US citizen since she was already issued a SS card.

If/when my wife approaches the time to be offered US citizenship and she decides to take the oath, will she remain a Canadian citizen in addition to being a US citizen?

Outstanding relplies, thanks a million. Has anyone done this:
I assume I would send in my daughters application for US Passport -
Then when we get back the originals, send them in for Canadian Passport?
Would she need to show a Canadian residence to get that?

Additionally, I read that if I request a Canadian Citizenship by virtue of being married to a Canadian citizen, I would have to renounce my US citizenship - anyone know if that is fact or fiction that I would lose my US Citizenship?

Under the legal section I read this here -
Section 349 of the INA [8 USC § 1481] specifies several conditions under which US citizenship may be lost:
becoming a naturalized citizen of another country, or declaring allegiance to another country, after reaching age 18;

I have considered moving upstate near the Champlain NY area, since the Company I work for does business in both countries. I'm wondering if in fact I can have a dual Citizenship as well, it would make it easier for me to get a job across the border, without going through all the visa whoohaw.

A Canadian citizen living aboard can apply for a passport anywhere in the world.
For your second question, read the first paragraph under the bullets. You won't lose your Canadian or U.S. citizenship unless you specifically tell either government that you want to renounce your citizenship.

Sec. 349. [8 U.S.C. 1481]


(a) A person who is a national of the United States whether by birth or naturalization, shall lose his nationality by voluntarily performing any of the following acts with the intention of relinquishing United States nationality-

Note that "intent" is key.

Your wife can sponsor you for Canadian permanent residence, not citizenship. After you become a resident, you will have to live in Canada for a certain number of years (3, I believe) before you qualify for Canadian citizenship.

Once you obtain your daughter's US passport, you can apply for her Canadian passport.

I did it for my son who has triple citizenship (Born in US to a Canadian citizen and a Polish citizen)

First apply for the US passport.
Next you'll need to get a Canadian citizenship card for your child, based on the fact that one of the parents is a Canadian citizen.

When you get the citizenship card, you can apply for a Canadian passport for your child.

The entire process above took about 3 months.

I'm working on the third passport right now, which will take way longer than both the US and Canadian passports combined.

Yes.

The only US rule is that whenever she identifies herself to US Authorities she has to show the US Passport.
I don't know about the Canadian Authorities.
