Canada Visit

My mother is currently in the US on (10 year multiple entry) B-2 visa. I would like to take her to Canada for a few days, after which she will return to the US. Could she apply for a Canadian visa at a Canadian Consulate in the US itself? Or, should she have applied for it in India itself? Any points and previous experiences on this subject would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Your mother can apply for a Canadian visa while in the US. She may not get it, but she can still attempt it. Canadian consulates in the US encourage visitors to apply in their country of normal residence, but they still entertain applications.
My grandmother (Pakistani citizen) visited me last year on a B-2 visa. I applied for her Canadian visa through the Detroit consulate. She got it in 10 days time. Single entry, valid for 3 months. All I provided to the consulate was a copy of my Canadian passport and a letter stating that I will personally drive my grandmother from Chicago to Toronto so that she can visit my mother (her daughter) and bring her back.
Good luck!!!
