Canada Visa Application

Do I need hotel and air reservations for applying for a Canadian visa?

I have checked the Canada Consulate Website, I am not sure the requirements.

I live in New York, I am thinking of going to Niagara Fall and cross the border for a long weekend. Since I do not have a specific date or timeframe, I don't want to make too much effort on planning the short trip.

Since Canada is requiring a person to have a 6-months validity on his/her travel document when applying for a visa, I am thinking of just getting the visa now even though I don't have any plan. If the 6-months validity is strictly enforceable, I can't appy one after August 2nd.

Any input would be greatly apprciated.

Mostly canadian consulate is concerned with your job and bank account. Bring your pay-stubs, a letter from work for how long have you been employed, bank statement, (home ownership would help if you have one).

They usually do not give much weight to airline ticket.
hope this helps

I think you just need to tell them about your employment record and your bank account. it wont hurt to get a letter from your employer stating that you work full time in your organizaton. also get a statment from your bank and or a credit card statement that has your credit limit. it is very likey that you will get the visa without any problems. the onyl problem is that you have to be specific in your dates. That is you have to tell them what dates you intend to be in Canada. You have to show them that you are planning a tour by deciding on these dates.
Good luck

its pretty easy to get canadian visa, everytime i go there, just show them my bank statement and school letter
they do give u visa even your RTD is less than 6-months valid, i got 3 month valid visa b4~~

I have experienced with applying for a UK visa twice and Schengen visa twice (one time from the Netherlands Consulate and the other time from the Greece Consulate). I just don't want the Canada Consulate to deny my visa application just becuase I don't have any hotel or air reservations.

Thank you very much for those who responded to my posting.

I got denied a canadian visa. I think the officer was having a bad day since she denied everyone on that day...I did submit everything .e.mployment, house ownership papers..car ownership..how much I am worth....Even what countries i have visited in the past and came back1!!(australia, Europe, etc)
