Needed to ask a quick question. I have a valid TN till 2015. I was just told by my lawyer that while going to Canada my i-94 will be taken away and then issued a new one on my way back?
In the past the i-94 was never taken i would cross the border into Canada and then come back on the same i-94?
has anything changed since then?

Nothing has changed. I94 is not taken away when you leave US on TN. Some lawyers just copy and paste the links from DHS website.

BTW when you come back US customs will take away your I-94, nothing to worry but US customs are not issuing new I-94s, your information will be entered online and you can download it.
