Hi all,

I need to revalidate H1-B visa and H4 visa. I have got H1-B and H4 extension papers approved. My existing H1-B visa expired in Sep 2001.
I am told that new rules are in force from April 1, 2002 if you go to Canada/Mexico for visa revalidation. With this in mind, I have a few questions.

1. How long will it take now a days if send the papers to St.Louis for stamping?

2. Is it true that going to Canadian border for stamping is no longer possible? What about Mexican border? What are risks involved like questioning, getting stuck there etc?

3. Website where I can get the Canadian/Mexican border address and checklist for visa revalidation.

Thanks

1. Don\'t know. The time varies. See the ever growing message tree under revalidation...

2. It is still possible to go to Canada or Mexico to get the H1 and H4. But if the visa stamping is denied with your previous visas expired you will not be let in (even with the new I94 that came with H1/H4). That is the risk. But if you take all necessary documentation (I129, LCA, Employer documents, paystubs etc.) it is unlikely that a H1 to h1 (or a H4 to H4) application will be rejected.

3. See http://travel.state.gov/visa_services.html click on revalidation
