I plan to import my truck into the US. That being said, I believe there is a 1 year duty free allowance for Canadians. I'm curious what happens after the 1 year time period has elapsed and the truck has not been brought back to Canada (still in the US) and the Import duty's and fees haven't been paid? Can this affect your Visa renewal? how does the CBP know if the truck has returned to Canada or not?
*I realize you need to import it to obtain state plates/registration/title & insurance. I'm more so curious about worst case scenario...Who is the whistle blower after the 1 year? who would seize the truck?
