Can you work as soon as the H-1 receipt ...

Looking at all the other posts here I am guessing that the answer to my question is 'no', but I will ask it anyway :)

Are you authorized to work as soon as you receive the H-1 receipt notice for an H-1 3 year renewal? or do you need final approval before you can continue to work?

I am renewing my existing H-1 for the same company, and I heard (not sure where) that the H-1 receipt notice was all I needed to continue to work....

Any information is apreciated.

If the extension has been filed prior to the expiration of the I-94, you can work for up to 240 days past that expiration date, if you have the receipt for the H1 extension.
