Can you use EAD for self employment

Can you use EAD for self employment purpose ? like can my wife show that she is doing baby sitting or any other job? But in that situation she won't get a W2 form , the only proof she will have, will be the cheque she will get.

Is this a possible way to change the status from H1 to EAD?
 
Even though EAD is not a status, but if you are self employed (like babysitting), will that considered as using EAD and will solve the situation/problem.

Because she is not getting paid on H1 and I wanted her to use EAD and few people suggested that if she is not getting paid on H1 then she should use EAD so that her H1 get invalid. Is this a solution ?
 
You ask if this is "a solution" but you haven't clearly stated the problem... Is she H-1 or H-4? If she is H-1 and is no longer working, she may already be out of status. I assume you both have pending I-485 applications?

If your wife is currently on some H-1 program and she works outside of that program by virtue of her EAD, she will lose her H-1 status. This means that she will have to go to the people in charge of the H-1 program and update her records (I-9) that she is working by virtue of an EAD and not H-1b status, which is no longer valid. Furthermore, she will have to travel abroad and return with an approved 'Advanced Parole'. If you are an H-4 spouse, this may all affect you as well.....

This question has been in my mind for some time now.
Not that I have to follow through or something but can I say buy a Franchise or invest ina Business along with my JOB on an EAD.
Ofcourse I would be keeping my Primary job for sure.
Just a thought I need clarified.

I am not sure about this statement. I think working on EAD and traveling abroad on AP are two distinct events and they are not necessarily tied to one another. You might want to check with your attorney about this.

Her H1 has already been invalidated by her not doing work or getting paid. There's nothing more she needs to do.
