Can you travel while your status is pending

So I applied for asylum in US, but can I travel to Europe while my asylum is under processing and there is no decision made? I know I mustn't go back to my country, but to others like Canada and Europe? If yes, in what time I must return to US not to harm asylum process.

As far as I know, you can't leave the country while they process your case.
