Hi,
ME again. Sorry, i just read a post from someone who was on H1B and they were married to US citizen but didnt apply for green card. What are the implications of this? Does it effect their traveling overseas?

Is any one in this situation?

Thanks!

Yes, that should be OK but why you wanna do that? If that person traveling overseas, he/she just have to use their H1b visa. It's easier if that person applies for GC

H1B can only be extended i think 3 times. so it is for limited period

(1) On a normal basis, H1-B can be extended/renewed only once to complete the 6 year limit.

(2) If GC is through employment, then H1B can be repeatedly extended as long as GC is pending. The employer needs to be proactive with this.

(3) If GC is through family, the H-1 can be renewed only once (same as (1) )

To avoid removal of conditional status issues etc.., it may actualy be desirable to remain on H1B visa for 2 years after getting married.
